Museo de Arte Colonial

Located near the San Joseph ruins.
It highlights the importance of one of the three pillars of European thought, such as the arts, with the other two being philosophy and theology.

The education in the colony era was focused in those three areas, arts shows the advances of the civilization after having others principal needs.

Jade Museum

The history of jade is not new; jade became an important stone for the Mayas. Nowadays, jade not only represents economic power but also beliefs that transcend this world.

Jade is a symbol of immortality and long-life.

Located in the main square, symbol of fertility, purity and prosperity.

The water also shows that Antigua is blessed, that important liquid had helped the civilization to survive.

Historical city

Antigua Guatemala is an important place that shows a frozen Colonial Capital, located in Sacatepéquez.  Antigua was the third capital of Santiago de los Caballeros, which had suffered earthquakes that marked huge changes in Guatemala.

Culture in each place

Guatemala is rich in Jade, cotton, coffee, corn, and cacao.
Its architecture has influences from Europe, styles such as Roman, but also has its own Guatemalan details.

Advice and cost of entrance

It is essential to note that the museums are situated near the main plaza. Before visiting them, check the horary to avoid wasting your time. Some of them are free, but others have an entrance fee, which could vary.
No matter what the prices are, from 3 to 7 USD, or 20 to 50 quetzales.

Weather

From January to April, the weather is dry, and the rainy season lasts from May until October.
November and December are windy.  

What to wear?

If you want to visit Antigua, Guatemala, in the summer, it is advisable to wear comfortable clothes, such as shorts, fresh shirts, and a hat. The cobblestone streets are slippery during the rain. Mornings are fresh when it has rained the night before.
But during the rainy season, days are crazy. Mornings are sunny and dry, and after lunch (1 or 2 pm), clouds come, and it starts raining.
For that, check how the weather will be.

Keep enough water and sunscreen, or a raincoat with waterproof shoes. Depends on the month you are visiting Guatemala.
The most important thing for your travel is "enjoy it as much as you can"

It is a village that shows the importance of the textil, there is a school that teach children to learn the technique of waving, and teach how to prepare traditional Guatemalan dishes.

Atitlán Lake / Sololá

Panajachel and San Juan la Laguna

To visit this place is mandatory to travel for almost 4 hours from Antigua or From Guatemala City.
it is a full day tour that will be enjoyable.

Chichicastenango

Calvary and Maya´s market

Located in Quiche, the Maya people still conserve some important rituals and ceremonies that connect their current beliefs with the ancient ones. There is a big Maya market in front of the calvary.

Busy days are Thursday and Sundays from 9 am to 2 pm.
